“I’m excited by architecture’s role in creating environments that facilitate important events in people’s lives. We can have a meaningful impact when we create solutions through a curious and respectful design process.”
Darin is passionate about designing community buildings that foster connection through a human centred approach. He believes architecture can strengthen community, build excitement, spark curiosity, and invite reflection, influencing our daily encounters in any number of ways.
As Principal of our Calgary office, Darin leads diverse teams on public space design, civic and institutional projects, community centres, and recreation and aquatic facilities. Relationship building is key to his approach. Whether leading small-scale feasibility studies or delivering complex community buildings, Darin embraces a listening first attitude as he guides clients and communities through the process. Projects include the forthcoming Harry Jerome Community Recreation Centre and Coronation Park Sports and Recreation Centre – both recognized with World Architecture Festival Awards in the Futures category – and the University of Windsor Toldo Lancer Centre.
Darin’s love for sport and recreation often manifests in his work as an architect. He is passionate about designing inclusive facilities that bring together high-performance sport, community activities, and social spaces where all feel welcome.
