I'm motivated knowing that I am solving part of people's life problems by designing the best solutions we can provide them with.
Before joining hcma, Alberto worked in architectural offices and research centers in Vancouver and Madrid, developing energy-efficient and innovative construction solutions. He became a Passive House Designer and shortly after joined hcma to work on Clayton Community Centre, where he oversaw the building envelope completion, airtightness testing, and drawing compliance during construction to bring the project to its certification submission.
He is currently working on Vancouver Fire Hall 9, where he coordinates the sustainability aspects such as accessibility, inclusivity, energy performance. Alberto brings a passion for green architecture as well as experience in Passive House projects, Life Cycle Assessment, low environmental impact construction systems and materials, and focus on inclusivity and social impact on community projects.
Alberto received his post-graduate architectural degree from the Technical University of Madrid (UPM), specializing in the study of Environment and Bioclimatic Architecture (MAYAB). His work included climate and environmental analysis, the study of interior design conditions for human comfort, bioclimatic design, energy performance in buildings, LEED and BREEAM sustainable rating systems, as well as sustainable urbanism and green building strategies.
