UBC LEEDv4.1 Implementation Guide

Location

Vancouver, BC

The LEED Implementation Guide provides specific direction for design teams working at the UBC Vancouver and Okanagan campuses to implement the LEED BD+C v4.1 rating system. The guide leverages the provincial requirement for LEED Gold ratings in support of broad and effective implementation of UBC sustainability goals across campuses. It was developed to support all UBC policy and aligns with the UBC Vancouver and Okanagan Campus Plans, Technical Guidelines, Green Building Action Plan, and Climate Action Plan 2030.

hcma drafted the guide in collaboration with UBC Campus and Community Planning (Sustainability and Engineering) and UBCO Campus Planning (Sustainability Office), as well as reLoad Sustainable Design Inc.

Our Senior Director of Sustainability Rebecca Holt is a subject matter expert in building performance rating systems and assessment and had drafted earlier versions of the same guide for UBC, including the UBC LEED 2009 and v4.0 Implementation Guides. Her role encompassed organizational policy analysis; facilitating stakeholder engagement to gather feedback, shape content and support cross functional buy-in; and the drafting of content, senior review, and document development guidance.
