Libraries are built for people to ask questions and seek answers. That public service is awe-inspiring. We think their design should be too.
Libraries are undergoing a tremendous transformation. They’re evolving from buildings that were primarily designed to accommodate the physical storage of a collection, to vibrant public spaces – accessible community living rooms – where people meet, talk, access digital archives, read together and create culture together. What’s possible? What’s next? No one knows, but we at hcma want to be part of that important conversation. We celebrate the social role of libraries, and we work to maximize the potential for social spaces in our designs. In case it isn’t clear, we love libraries.
[Jasper Place Branch Library] blows the socks off of people’s old impressions of libraries.
