Through our community responsibility program this December, hcma supported three local organizations: the Victoria Women's Transition House Society, YWCA Presents of Peace, and A Better Life Foundation. Our community responsibility initiative was developed to align with our goal of creating stronger, healthier, and engaged communities and every month our firm makes a donation to a worthy cause selected by an employee. Over the years we have supported a broad range of initiatives – from academic scholarships to matched giving. Selected organizations must provide services that support our firm’s core values and be actively involved in community building, environmental sustainability, and social sustainability.
hcma’s Victoria office sponsored a single woman through the Victoria Women's Transition House Society which provides victims of violence with essentials to start a new life in a new home. Our Vancouver office coordinated a hamper for a single mother through the YWCA Presents of Peace which helps low income families in the Lower Mainland at Christmas. Volunteers from both offices used the wish lists provided by shelter and YWCA to shop for gifts, groceries, and household supplies, and hampers were wrapped and delivered last week. The firm is also making a donation to A Better Life Foundation to support local food security. Not only is this an opportunity to give back to the community, it’s also a time for team members to get to know each other better.
We are so thankful for the opportunity to give back to the community during the Christmas season and we encourage you to consider making the holidays a little brighter by supporting a low income family or a woman struggling to start over.
