Karen Marler

Karen studied architecture at the Technical University of Nova Scotia, and went on directly to join HCMA’s predecessor firm. Karen has worked on a number of innovative projects including Rogers Elementary School, Expo 86 Monorail Stations and the Arbutus Walk Residences. More recently she led the University Boulevard project for UBC Properties Trust and the revolutionary UniverCity Child Care Facility at Simon Fraser University.
Throughout her architectural career Karen has gained unique wide-ranging experience on numerous institutional, civic, education and residential projects. Karen offers our clients special expertise and experience in residential design and educational institutions. She has served as a member of UBC’s Design Panel, as a Guest Thesis Critic for the UBC School of Architecture and as a young woman’s mentor for the YWCA of Greater Vancouver.
