Carl-Jan graduated from Stuttgart University, Germany, where he received a Masters degree in Architecture and Town Planning with specializations in sustainable design, technology and urban design. In Stuttgart, he gained experience on diverse institutional, residential and commercial projects. Since joining HCMA in 2000, Carl-Jan has established unique expertise in educational, recreation, community, aquatic and institutional design. As Associate-in-Charge and project architect he led the Abbotsford Recreation Centre, Port Moody Recreation Centre, Oshawa Legends Centre and Camosun College Campus Plan projects. His close attention to detail and conscientious approach to project management ensures the success of demanding projects. Since 2005 Carl-Jan has been managing the HCMA Victoria branch office, leading a growing number of staff in delivering quality architectural services to our Vancouver Island clients.
